Roll a Cone Joint With Filter Tip – If you are a cannabis smoker, rolling joints would not be anything new for you. Joint is a cannabis cigarette which is also the most common way of consuming cannabis. And if you are into weed, then you must know how to roll a cone joint.
But you don’t know how to do so, then here is a detailed guide explaining how to roll cone joint in a few easy steps.
How to Roll a Cone Joint?
Contents
Step 1: Prep the Herbs
We will begin with prepping up our herbs. Choose any cannabis strain that you wish to enjoy and remove its stems and seeds, if there are any. Now grind the herbs using your hands, scissors or a grinder. We would recommend using a two-chamber grinder for this purpose.
Whatever the method of grinding is, just make sure to not grind too much as it will make the weed powdery and then it won’t burn properly. Also, do not leave it coarse or it will not be that great because of the uneven burn. Once you are done grinding your herbs, you can proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Fix the Crutch
Now take a filter/crab/crutch or you can also create one by your own. You will easily find pre-made filters of different materials like wood tips, cardboard, hard paper, glass tips, etc. If you are making a joint filter on your own, then you can also use business cards or similar items.
Most people just skip using a crutch/filter. But this is really wrong and for so many reasons. The crutch acts like a clutch of a vehicle. You can take control and handle your joint with this crutch.
It protects you from burning your fingers or mouth while smoking and also checks any spilling of the weed from one end of the joint.
Simply cut a rectangular shape of the material that you want to use for the filter and using the piece, create a small ‘M’ shape in one end of the paper. Roll it to make a cylindrical shape.
The filter when kept vertical on a surface would look like a M embedded in a hollow circle. Once your filter is ready, you can proceed further.
Step 3: Load the Paper
Now that you have the stuff you want to stuff in the joint ready – the herbs and the crutch, you can now load them in the paper of the joint. You can use any rolling paper of your choice.
Generally, most of the rolling papers come with a crease on them, but if your rolling paper does not have a crease, then make one. You can do so by simply folding the rectangular paper in a vertical direction.
Now, lay the rolling paper on a flat surface and take the herbs. Spread them evenly on the paper across the line of crease. At one end of this paper and crease line, put the crutch/filter we made in the previous step.
Since we are creating a cone shaped joint, you will have to add more herbs on the opposite side of the filter. This will ensure a conical shape with the crutch side smaller and the opposite side broader, giving the joint a conical shape. Once you are done placing both the herbs and the filter on the rolling paper, you can proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Roll the paper
Now comes the trickiest part of all. Before you start, just note that, this step can be difficult and you might not get it right at the first try. So just be patient and follow the given instructions carefully. Slowly and gently pick up the rolling paper in the setup made till step 3.
Now slowly start rolling the paper up and down between your thumb and index fingers. Do this very lightly to compress the contents in the paper. In order to roll the joint smoothly, you will have to pick it up entirely. Do it slowly to avoid any spills. Take your time to roll it nicely.
When it seems that the herbs are well compact, hold the end from the filter side and slide your thumb across as you roll and tuck the paper into a conical shape. In order to make the roll smooth and tight, you will have to slide your thumb across the full length of the joint.
Once the non-filter side of the joint, that is the broader part of the joint seems to have a limited paper to roll, stop it there and then lick the sticky strip of glue through out the paper length. After licking the paper, again roll it till the end of the paper.
Step 5: Seal it up
You have made your joint but now you need to make it durable by sealing it. Simply tap the filter end of the joint like you would tap a cigarette gently on any flat surface for a few times. This will organize your joint a little more.
You will see some part of the paper left from the conical broader part. Twist this part to form candle wick like tip of the joint. This is the lighting point of the joint.
Step 6: Light it and Enjoy!
Now that your joint is ready, light it up using a lighter or a matchstick. Just make sure to light it up very slowly and smoothly. Joint does not work like a cigarette so do not ignite it while holding in the mouth or inhaling it. Keep the joint in your hands then ignite it slowly and once it is lit, you can start your session and enjoy!
That was it all about rolling a cone shaped joint. Just make sure that you have rolled it neatly and nicely. If you are a beginner, a few attempts will be just fine if you do not get it at once. Keep in mind to grind the herbs well, use a filter, make a crease on the rolling paper and ignite the stuff properly, and unlike a cigarette.
In case you do not find it easy to roll a conical joint, you can simply buy readymade conical joints and then add the herbs into it.
